Never Give Up!
Springfield, (Mo.) Own Jeffrey McDaniel (A.K.A Guaranteed ) Says "Never Give Up" , God has the power to delivery you! Recently the rapper sat down with Brotha Maze of themazereport/ 1SE. to tell his story.
1SE: What type of upbringing did you come from?
Guaranteed:I grew up poor, but did not know it because I was spoiled. I got everything I ask for cause I would clean the entire house for a favor with my mother. My mother and step father would throw parties on the weekend which is where I believe I received my love of old school music and the like sounds of Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, BeBe and CeCe Winan. I played sports to get attention and the approval of family and friends, yet being the class clown and always getting into trouble for being the comedian and making everyone laugh at any cost, as well the protector of the family. I somewhat wanted to be that mortal super hero of my family.
1SE: Who was your inspiration? As well, when did you accept Christ into your life?
Guaranteed: My inspiration came from my uncles cause all of them where fighters and smooth lovers and gentlemen with the ladies and I admired them for that. I’ve always was in church from a kid, getting baptize at an early age cause it felt right at the time, three times over to be exact I pledged my faith to God. Not truly knowing the meaning of giving my life over to him at the time, yet I learned this walk with him daily as I grew older.
1SE: What ministries have you performed for or venues in the past five years?
Guaranteed: I have performed acapella music which God had given me since 1996, when I found out I had the ability to write good spiritual motivational music from my own trials and tribulation of my life struggles with alcohol and drug addiction and going back and forth to the penitentiary. I was able to create a gospel band while being incarcerated there for my criminal activity, from being a king pin with drug sales and distribution, to a dope feign on skid row in my hometown Springfield city streets. Currently, I have the opportunity to tell my story through my church and viral video my reaching millions who use social media to vent. This stage has offered me a way out of my previous lifestyle. Mentoring recently has allowed me the opportunity tell youth other adult addicts about how God has shown his love upon me and how he can do the same upon them too.
1SE: Why is music so important to you and why pursue a Gospel music career now?
Guaranteed: The reason I want to pursue a gospel music career; because I want to tell the world how good God is threw in my own words and testimonies, that maybe someone out there that has lost hope, in living and that God has the answer to everything that we struggle with in our lives.
1SE: What message would you like to get out to the people read this interview?
Guaranteed: I thank God for allowing me to go to the penitentiary, and experience the rebukes of my acts. He settle me down enough to read his word (the bible) 7 times from cover to cover to get a better understand of how awesome and amazing he is! My dedication is not to glorify me nor my past yet if anyone can learn from my mistakes and help another person live a Christ filled life, then my testimony was worth it.
